Saltus School in Bermuda Approved to Offer British Columbia Curriculum

Saltus School in Bermuda has received approval to become a British Columbia Offshore School and will start offering the curriculum in September. The decision was made after a thorough review of international curricula, with representatives from the British Columbia Ministry of Education visiting Saltus to evaluate the school’s operations and ensure it met all requirements.

Julie Rousseau, the head of school at Saltus, along with other officials, met with Diallo Rabain, the Minister of Education, who congratulated Saltus on this achievement. Alan Schroeder, director of International Education from the BC Ministry of Education, expressed the ministry’s pleasure in welcoming Saltus into the global network of BC offshore schools.

Grant Sheppard, executive director of Independent Schools and International Education, also visited Saltus for the assessment. BC ministry officials will return to Saltus in the autumn to begin an annual cycle of school inspection.

Ms. Rousseau described this as an exciting time for Saltus, with faculty and staff preparing for this transition over the past year. The school recently received accreditation from Canadian Accredited Independent Schools and the New England Accredited Schools and Colleges, adding to its triple accreditation status with the BC seal of approval.

The BC curriculum is internationally recognized and highly regarded, with 35 offshore schools in 12 countries worldwide adopting it. Saltus will now join these schools in offering the BC certificate of graduation, known as the Dogwood Diploma.

This new curriculum will provide Saltus students with a rigorous academic program that prepares them for acceptance into prestigious universities around the world. The school is confident that this transition will benefit both the students and the institution as a whole.
