Samsung has made a significant leap in the world of wearable technology by integrating its Galaxy AI, originally developed for Galaxy smartphones, into the Galaxy Watch. This move is aimed at enhancing the health-monitoring capabilities of the wearable device, aligning with Samsung’s strategy to extend AI functionalities across its product lineup. Following the recent release of the Galaxy S24 series, which marked the beginning of the “era of mobile AI,” this integration is a step towards a more personalized and secure health experience for users.
The incorporation of Galaxy AI into the Galaxy Watch works in conjunction with the Samsung Health app, introducing features such as comprehensive health insights and motivational support. One of the standout additions is the Energy Score, which evaluates personal health data like sleep patterns, heart rate, and activity levels to provide a holistic view of daily health. Additionally, the introduction of Wellness Tips offers guidance to help users achieve their health goals more effectively.
The advanced health algorithms powered by AI promise more precise and accurate health metrics, including detailed sleep insights and tailored fitness features. These features, such as Aerobic and Anaerobic Threshold Heart Rate Zones for runners and Functional Threshold Power metrics for cyclists, aim to provide users with a more personalized training experience. The new Workout Routine feature and Race function further enhance the overall user experience by facilitating seamless transitions between exercises and allowing users to compare their current and past performance on familiar routes.
Samsung’s VP and Head of the Galaxy Ecosystem Product Planning Team, Junho Park, emphasized the company’s vision of expanding Galaxy AI across its ecosystem. This integration of Galaxy AI into the Galaxy Watch is just the beginning, with more integrations expected across the Galaxy portfolio in the near future. The new features will be available on the upcoming Galaxy Watch lineup through One UI 6 Watch, set to launch later this year. A select group of Galaxy Watch users will have early access to the beta program starting in June, showcasing Samsung’s commitment to innovation and user experience in the wearable technology space.
