Hollister High School Named a “Best High School” for Sixth Consecutive Year

For the sixth year in a row, Hollister High School has been recognized as one of the “Best High Schools” in the country by U.S. News & World Report. The prestigious ranking places HHS in the top 40% of schools nationally, outperforming thousands of other schools across the United States.

Principal Kevin Medeiros expressed his excitement about the achievement, stating, “We are thrilled to be named one of the U.S. Best High Schools for the sixth year in a row. This is a testament to how dedicated our students, teachers, and community are to making our high school great. Together, we will keep pushing forward to continue our success.”

The ranking is based on various factors including performance on state-required tests, graduation rates, and college readiness. Hollister High School has demonstrated outstanding outcomes in math, reading, and science state assessments, as well as high graduation rates and success in college-level exams.

Assistant Superintendent Elaine Klauer commended the school for its commitment to academic success, highlighting programs such as Advanced Placement and AVID initiatives that have contributed to the school’s excellence.

Superintendent Dr. Shawn Tennenbaum emphasized the importance of consistent support and high expectations in achieving this recognition. He praised the efforts of educators, staff, administrators, and the community in helping students reach their highest potential.

The ongoing recognition of Hollister High School’s excellence is a source of pride for the San Benito High School District, with Board of Trustees President Miguel Sahagun commending the dedication of teachers, staff, and administrators in providing quality education and opportunities for student enrichment.

The methodology used to determine the best high schools focuses on college readiness, curriculum breadth, state assessment performance, underserved student success, and graduation rates.
