Hutchinson Community College standout Journey Armstead has officially committed to play basketball at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), making the announcement on Sunday. Armstead, a sophomore at Hutchinson, has had an impressive career so far, culminating in a National Championship win this past season.
Armstead, a 2022 graduate of Charles Page High School, has been a key player for the Hutchinson Blue Dragons, helping lead them to a perfect 37-0 season and an NJCAA National Championship title. She was named to the NJCAA All-Tournament Team and the KJCCC All-Conference First Team for her outstanding performance on the court.
Known for her scoring ability and playmaking skills, Armstead averaged 10.1 points, 4.3 rebounds, 5.1 assists, and 2.2 steals per game this season. Her impressive stats and leadership qualities caught the attention of UAB head coach Randy Norton, who praised her as a dynamic point guard with the ability to make an immediate impact on the team.
UAB, a Division I program in the American Athletic Conference, is looking forward to adding Armstead to their roster as they aim to compete for championships both on and off the court. With Norton at the helm for 12 seasons, the Blazers have a solid foundation for success and are excited to see what Armstead will bring to the team in the upcoming season.
