Sanju Samson’s Malayalam Post Goes Viral After T20 World Cup Selection

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Indian wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson’s heartfelt post in Malayalam following his selection in the squad for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 has gone viral on social media. The Rajasthan Royals skipper and batter expressed his gratitude and dedication with the message, “Viyarpu Thuniyitta Kuppayam,” which translates to “Shirt stitched of sweat and hard work.”

Samson’s inclusion in the T20 World Cup squad comes after his consistent performances in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL). Despite facing tough competition, he managed to secure a spot as the wicketkeeper-batter alongside Rishabh Pant. Samson’s journey in international cricket has been challenging, with limited opportunities and tough competition in the wicketkeeper slot.

While his T20I statistics may not reflect his true potential, Samson has been a standout performer in the IPL. With over 4,000 runs in 161 matches at an impressive average and strike rate, he has proven his worth as a top-order batter. This season, he has been in exceptional form, leading his team to the top of the table with his consistent performances with the bat.

As India gears up for the T20 World Cup, Samson’s selection adds depth to the squad’s batting lineup. With the likes of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Hardik Pandya in the mix, the team looks well-equipped to take on the competition in Group A, which includes arch-rivals Pakistan, Ireland, Canada, and hosts USA. The stage is set for an exciting campaign, starting with a clash against Ireland on June 5 in New York.
