Saudi Arabia to Host World Environment Day on 5th June

In a groundbreaking announcement, Saudi Arabia will be hosting World Environment Day on 5th June, marking a significant moment for environmental action. The event, led by the UN Environment Programme, aims to draw attention to the critical challenges of land degradation, desertification, and drought.

With one-fifth of the Earth’s land now degraded and natural resources dwindling, the need for global action is more urgent than ever. The UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration, launched in 2021, has already seen countries pledge to revive 1 billion hectares of land, but more efforts are needed to reach the target of 1.5 billion hectares by 2030.
