The Johnny Mac Tennis Project is once again offering young tennis players in the New York area the opportunity to compete for scholarships to attend the prestigious John McEnroe Tennis Academy. The annual scholarship tryout and athletic scouting combine will take place at Sportime Randall’s Island on Saturday, June 15th.
Players between the ages of 8-16 are invited to try out for full and partial scholarships for the 2024-2025 season at Sportime Randall’s Island. Coaches from the John McEnroe Tennis Academy will be on hand to evaluate the participants and identify untapped talent.
The Johnny Mac Tennis Project, a charity organization dedicated to providing opportunities for under-resourced young athletes, aims to remove barriers to success through tennis. By offering free tennis programs and scholarships, the organization hopes to guide young players towards college scholarships, careers in the industry, and even professional tennis careers.
The tryout will include tennis and athletic drills, point/match play, and athletic/fitness testing, while the combine is open to athletes ages 6-10 with little or no tennis experience but who excel in other sports. Both events will be evaluated by a Selection Committee consisting of Sportime/JMTA directors, coaches, and leaders, including JMTA Executive Director Patrick McEnroe.
Scholarship winners will be notified at a later date, and the event promises to be an exciting opportunity for young tennis enthusiasts to showcase their skills and potentially earn a scholarship to the John McEnroe Tennis Academy.
