Golf It! Drives Towards a Greener Future with Electric Vehicle Charge Points

Golf It! has teed off towards a more sustainable future by becoming the first golf course to join ScottishPower’s tourist trail of electric vehicle charge points. Located at Hogganfield Loch in Glasgow, Golf It! opened last August as a community-based golf and entertainment facility with a focus on accessibility and inclusivity.

Partnering with ScottishPower, Golf It! has installed 6 electric vehicle chargers on site, allowing 12 vehicles to charge simultaneously. In just six months, the chargers have powered up nearly 40,000 electric miles, equivalent to driving from Land’s End to John O’Groats over 47 times. The chargers are powered by 100% renewable energy, supporting visitors, local residents, and motorists in need of a quick charge.

Golf It! joins ScottishPower’s electric vehicle tourist trail alongside other attractions like Whitelee Windfarm and Glasgow Science Centre, all working towards Glasgow’s goal of achieving net zero emissions by 2030. With a commitment to reducing carbon emissions, Golf It! has already saved 5.5 tonnes of carbon from the atmosphere.

General Manager Russell Smith expressed excitement about the partnership with ScottishPower, highlighting the benefits for both the environment and the community. Bob Murphy, Technical Executive at ScottishPower, praised Golf It! for embracing green technology and creating a new revenue stream through electric vehicle charging.

As the first major UK energy company to generate 100% renewable electricity, ScottishPower is providing guidance to business leaders on how green technology can improve their finances. The partnership between Golf It! and ScottishPower is a hole in one for sustainability and business success.
