Scottish hospitality technology company partners with Arctic Inuit community

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Hop Software, a Scottish hospitality tech firm, has made a groundbreaking move by securing its first Arctic contract with Hotel Narsaq in Greenland. The hotel, located in the heart of the Inuit community, was in need of an online booking system for its business clientele and international tourists.

Despite being located 1600 miles away from Hop Software’s base in Edinburgh, the team successfully integrated their award-winning property management system with Hotel Narsaq. This achievement was not without its challenges, as the team had to navigate Nordic regulations to get the system live ahead of the summer tourist season.

Co-founder Richard Drummond expressed his surprise at the unexpected opportunity, stating, “It’s probably one of the last places we would have imagined Hop to be, at the outset, if I am honest. You don’t really plan for this, though I think it shows the flexibility of our product.”

Fridrik Magnusson, co-owner of Hotel Narsaq, commended the Hop team for overcoming international barriers to introduce the software, emphasizing the importance of easy online booking for their business customers.

Hop Software, founded in 2017 by Scottish hotelier directors, has steadily expanded its reach, with over 250 hospitality businesses now using their property management system. The move into Greenland marks a significant milestone for the company, as it continues to grow and innovate in new territories.

Sharon Smith, Hop’s Chief Operating Officer, expressed excitement about the new partnership with Hotel Narsaq and the opportunity to expand their footprint in Greenland’s vibrant economy. This Arctic contract signifies a new chapter in Hop Software’s journey towards global growth and success.
