Seabury Hall Boys Volleyball Team Gears Up for MIL D-II Tournament Semifinal
The Seabury Hall boys volleyball team is preparing for their upcoming Maui Interscholastic League Division II tournament semifinal match against Lanai on April 26. Their recent 25-17, 25-21, 19-25, 25-9 victory over Lanai at the Erdman Athletic Center has evened their MIL record at 4-4, while Lanai falls to 0-6.
Led by junior outside and opposite hitter Jack Bendon, who tallied 13 kills in the match, the Spartans are feeling confident about their performance. Bendon expressed optimism about the team’s progress, especially considering the number of new players on the roster this season.
Last season, Seabury Hall faced a similar situation and suffered a defeat to a winless Lanai team in the league tournament semifinals. Determined not to repeat history, the Spartans are focused on staying sharp and improving their game through scrimmages against MIL Division I teams Kamehameha Maui and King Kekaulike.
Coach Rocky DeLyon emphasized the importance of these scrimmages in preparing his young team for the challenges ahead. With their eyes set on a potential state tournament berth, the Spartans are determined to overcome obstacles and secure victories against tough opponents like Lanai and Molokai.
Meanwhile, Lanai coach Ross Morita acknowledged the Spartans’ tenacity and praised their relentless effort on the court. As both teams gear up for the MIL tournament, the competition is heating up, with only one automatic state tournament berth up for grabs.
With the semifinal match on the horizon, both Seabury Hall and Lanai are focused on fine-tuning their skills and strategies to secure a spot in the state tournament. The road ahead may be challenging, but these teams are ready to give it their all and compete for a chance at glory.
