Sean Kingston agrees to return to Florida for fraud case

Rapper and singer Sean Kingston is making headlines once again, but this time it’s for a much more serious reason. The 34-year-old artist has waived his right to fight extradition in a California court and has agreed to be turned over to authorities in Florida, where he and his mother are facing charges of committing over a million dollars worth of fraud.

Kingston, whose legal name is Kisean Anderson, was arrested at Fort Irwin, an army training base in California’s Mojave Desert, where he was performing. His mother, 61-year-old Janice Turner, was also arrested the same day when a SWAT team raided Kingston’s rented mansion in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

The duo has been charged with conducting an organized scheme to defraud, grand theft, identity theft, and related crimes. The arrest warrants allege that they stole money, jewelry, a Cadillac Escalade, and furniture.

This is not the first time Kingston and his mother have had run-ins with the law. Kingston was already on probation for trafficking stolen property, and his mother pleaded guilty in 2006 to bank fraud and served nearly one and a half years in prison.

Despite the serious charges they are facing, Kingston and his mother are confident of a successful resolution in court. Their attorney, Robert Rosenblatt, stated that they look forward to addressing the charges in a Florida court.

The case has garnered significant attention, given Kingston’s past success in the music industry, including a No. 1 hit with “Beautiful Girls” in 2007 and collaborations with artists like Justin Bieber. The authorities will now coordinate with the Broward County Sheriff’s Office to return Kingston to Florida to face the charges.
