Sean Kingston to face fraud charges in Florida

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Sean Kingston, the 34-year-old rapper and singer known for hits like “Beautiful Girls,” is facing serious legal trouble alongside his 61-year-old mother, Janice Turner. The duo has been charged with committing over a million dollars worth of fraud, including stealing money, jewelry, a Cadillac Escalade, and furniture.

Kingston, whose real name is Kisean Anderson, was arrested at Fort Irwin, an Army training base in California, where he was performing. His mother was also arrested the same day when a SWAT team raided Kingston’s rented mansion in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

The arrest warrants allege that Kingston and Turner conducted an organized scheme to defraud, committed grand theft, identity theft, and other related crimes. They are accused of stealing nearly half a million dollars in jewelry, over $200,000 from Bank of America, $160,000 from the Escalade dealer, and more from various financial institutions and businesses.

Despite the serious charges, Kingston waived his right to fight extradition and agreed to be turned over to authorities in Florida. His attorney, Robert Rosenblatt, expressed confidence in a successful resolution of the case.

This is not the first time Turner has faced legal trouble, as she pleaded guilty in 2006 to bank fraud and served nearly 1.5 years in prison. Kingston himself was already on probation for trafficking stolen property.

As the legal proceedings unfold, fans and the music industry alike are watching closely to see how this situation will impact Kingston’s career and reputation.
