Joey Batt and the Minnesota State Mavericks made history this past weekend by winning both the men’s and women’s NCAA Division II Basketball Championships in the same season. Batt, a standout guard and defensive powerhouse, led the women’s team to a 89-74 victory over Texas Woman’s University in the National Championship game.

But the Mavericks weren’t done yet. The men’s team, led by Malik Willingham, secured their own championship win with a thrilling 88-85 victory over Nova Southeastern. This double victory marked only the second time in history that a DII college has won both titles in the same season.
