Reading Time: < 1 minute

The University of Chicago men’s tennis team made history by clinching the 2024 DIII national title in a thrilling 5-4 victory over Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. This win marked the Maroons’ second national championship in program history, capping off a remarkable season with a 25-1 overall record and an impressive 18-match win streak.

The individual championship followed the team competition, with 32 singles players and 16 doubles teams battling it out from May 26 to May 28. The competition was fierce, but the Maroons emerged victorious, solidifying their dominance in the DIII men’s tennis scene.

Looking back at the tournament’s history, Case Western Reserve claimed the team and doubles titles in 2023, with Tufts taking home the individual title. However, this year belonged to the University of Chicago, as they etched their name in the record books with a hard-fought victory.

The road to the championship was filled with intense matchups and incredible displays of skill, but the Maroons proved to be the team to beat. With a rich history of success in the tournament, the University of Chicago has once again shown why they are a force to be reckoned with in DIII men’s tennis.

Congratulations to the University of Chicago men’s tennis team on their well-deserved national title win!
