Reading Time: < 1 minute

The 2024 Seminole County Middle High School Tennis Indians have clinched the State Championship title in a thrilling victory over Aquinas High School. The team, led by Head Coach Tina Fain and Assistant Coach Jim Palmer, traveled to Rome, Georgia, and emerged victorious with a 3-0 win over the number one seed from Region 8A.

This triumph was the culmination of a journey that began in May 2023, after a heartbreaking loss in the previous year’s championship. Coach Fain had challenged her team to work hard and aim for the state title in 2024, with three key players leading the charge. Throughout the season, the team honed their skills and developed strong doubles combinations, setting the stage for success.

As the playoffs unfolded, the Seminole County Indians faced tough competition but remained undefeated, showcasing their determination and skill on the court. In the championship match against Aquinas, the team faced a formidable opponent but rose to the occasion with stellar performances across the board.

Ultimately, it was the doubles teams that sealed the victory, with players like William Fain, Ellis Denham, and the Gravlee brothers delivering crucial wins. The team’s hard work and dedication paid off as they secured their second state championship, solidifying their place in school history.

The 2024 Tennis Indians will be remembered as a dominant force in Class A Division II tennis, with their remarkable season culminating in a well-deserved title. Congratulations to the players, coaches, and supporters who made this achievement possible.
