Reading Time: < 1 minute

Iron Mountain High School in Iron Mountain, Michigan, celebrated its senior student-athletes at the annual Senior Athletic Awards Night on Sunday at Mountaineer Gym. Among the honorees were Emily Copley and Alex Wilson, who received the prestigious Pat Izzo Memorial award.

The Pat Izzo Memorial award is given to students who exemplify sportsmanship, school spirit, character, desire, and leadership. It honors individuals who may not be the star athlete but consistently support their team with a positive attitude, motivate others, and lead with integrity. The award is named in memory of Pat Izzo, a former Mountaineer.

Copley and Wilson’s names have been engraved on the Pat Izzo Memorial award plaque displayed in the Izzo-Mariucci Building. Additionally, Shayna Hruska and Matthew Colavecchi were presented with the Izzo-Mariucci Scholarship award, a $5,000 scholarship for senior student-athletes who plan to participate in collegiate sports and demonstrate good sportsmanship and moral character.

The ceremony also recognized other outstanding athletes, including Isabella Lewis, Tyler Winch, Fulton Stroud, Luke Wolfe, Mallory Maracini, Kassie Munday, Kyle Lautzenheiser, Lindsey Sorensen, McKinlee Peterson, Reece Kangas, and Nikolai Burgoon, among others.

The event was organized by the Iron Mountain Athletic Booster Club, which provided each athlete with a Senior Athlete Plaque. The night was a celebration of the hard work, dedication, and sportsmanship displayed by the senior student-athletes at Iron Mountain High School.
