Senior Health and Fitness Day held in Orange County

The Orange County Office for the Aging hosted its 12th annual Orange County Senior Health and Fitness Day at Thomas Bull Memorial Park in Montgomery, drawing seniors from across the county to participate in a day of wellness and fun.

County Executive Steven M. Neuhaus emphasized the importance of staying physically, mentally, and fiscally fit as individuals age, highlighting the event as an opportunity for seniors to learn how to best take care of themselves. Commissioner Travis Ewald and the County Parks staff ensured the park was in top shape for the event, creating a beautiful setting for seniors to enjoy.

The day was filled with activities aimed at encouraging seniors to exercise, eat well, and have a good time. Various health screenings and information sessions were conducted by organizations like Healthy Orange and the Orange County Department of Health. Local businesses, healthcare providers, and vendors also sponsored and participated in the event, showing their support for the senior community.

National Senior Health and Fitness Day, which takes place in May, aims to keep older Americans healthy and fit, making it the largest annual health promotion event for older adults in the country. AnnMarie Maglione, Director of Orange County’s Office for the Aging, expressed her satisfaction with the event, noting the importance of social interaction and connection for seniors, especially those who may feel isolated.
