Session on Zero Bureaucracy in Maritime Sector Organised by UAE’s Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure

The UAE’s Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure (MoEI) is taking bold steps to streamline government bureaucracy in the maritime sector with the launch of the Zero Government Bureaucracy Programme. This initiative aims to eliminate redundant government procedures and unnecessary requirements by cancelling at least 2,000 government procedures and cutting the time taken to carry out services in half.

A recent session titled Zeroing Government Bureaucracy in the UAE Maritime Sector was hosted by MoEI at Expo City Dubai, drawing a diverse group of representatives from maritime government and private entities. Led by Hessa Al Malek, Advisor to the Minister for Maritime Transport Affairs at MoEI, the session focused on ways to enhance services and reduce unnecessary steps to improve the overall customer experience.

Participants at the session discussed various ambitious initiatives that could boost the efficiency and transparency of services in the maritime sector. One key suggestion was the establishment of an integrated e-system that would digitally process all maritime government transactions, reduce the need for paper documents, and leverage advanced technologies like AI to enhance service delivery.

In a statement, Al Malek emphasized the importance of ongoing efforts to enhance processes and remove barriers that could impede the progress of the maritime sector. She highlighted the UAE government’s commitment to improving the efficiency of all economic sectors, with a particular focus on the maritime industry as a crucial pillar of the national economy. By reducing bureaucracy, the UAE aims to solidify its position as a leading global hub for the maritime industry, driving economic growth and attracting foreign investments.

Al Malek also underscored the ministry’s dedication to improving customer happiness and enhancing their experience when using its services, in line with the directives of Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, Suhail bin Mohammed Faraj Faris Al Mazrouei. By prioritizing customer satisfaction and efficiency, MoEI is working towards creating a more seamless and user-friendly experience for individuals and businesses in the maritime sector.
