Severe storms in the Midwest bring tornadoes, hail, and strong winds, causing widespread damage | KWKT

Severe storms wreak havoc in the Midwest, leaving a trail of destruction in their wake. Tornadoes, heavy rain, and gusty winds have battered parts of Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, Illinois, Kentucky, and Missouri, with more states on high alert.

In Portage, Michigan, two tornadoes tore through the city, causing widespread damage to homes and commercial buildings, including a FedEx facility that was left in ruins. Thankfully, no serious injuries were reported, but over 20,000 residents were left without power, with restoration efforts expected to last until late Wednesday.

The storms continued to rage into the pre-dawn hours, with the National Weather Service issuing warnings of tornadoes crossing state lines into Pennsylvania and West Virginia. In Ohio, a tornado threat loomed, keeping residents on high alert.

Meanwhile, in Oklahoma, a deadly twister struck the town of Barnsdall, leaving at least one person dead and another missing. The tornado destroyed dozens of homes, a wax manufacturing facility, and caused widespread damage to the area.

Governor Kevin Stitt, who toured the affected areas, pledged $45 million in the state budget to aid storm-damaged communities. The resilience of Oklahomans was evident as they began the rebuilding process.

As severe weather patterns continue to impact various parts of the globe, the U.S. braces for more storms in the coming days. With millions of people in cities like Indianapolis, Memphis, and Nashville at risk, the need for preparedness and safety measures remains paramount.
