Veteran actress Shabana Azmi has spoken out in support of Kangana Ranaut after the latter was allegedly slapped by a CISF woman constable. Azmi condemned the behavior of the security official, stating that no one should take the law into their own hands.
The incident occurred during a security check at the Chandigarh airport, where Ranaut claimed she was hit in the face and abused by the constable. Azmi, while acknowledging that she has “no love lost” for Ranaut, expressed her disapproval of those celebrating the slap.
Azmi’s husband, Javed Akhtar, has also been involved in the controversy, as he filed a defamation case against Ranaut for her remarks accusing him of threatening her. The case is currently in court.
The altercation between Ranaut and the CISF constable took place just days after the actress was elected to the Lok Sabha from Mandi in Himachal Pradesh. The constable, identified as Kulwinder Kaur, has since been suspended and an investigation has been launched into the incident.
The CISF, responsible for airport security, has ordered a court of inquiry to further investigate the matter. The incident has sparked a debate on the use of force by security personnel and the importance of upholding the rule of law in such situations.
