West Virginia Football Embraces New Structure for Secondary Coaching
MORGANTOWN — West Virginia football is making significant changes to its coaching staff structure during spring practice, with ShaDon Brown taking on a more prominent role in coaching the team’s secondary.
Coach Neal Brown has decided to consolidate the secondary coaching responsibilities under ShaDon Brown, the team’s co-defensive coordinator. This decision comes after last year’s cornerback coach, Dontae Wright, left to join another coaching staff.
ShaDon Brown believes that having one voice in the secondary room will eliminate any confusion in communication and provide a more cohesive approach to coaching the defensive backs. He has experience coaching the entire secondary at previous Power 5 programs, including Army, Colorado, and Louisville.
The differences between coaching cornerbacks and safeties are significant, as each position requires different skills and mentalities.
