The Shadyside Tigers emerged victorious in a thrilling baseball matchup against the Steubenville Catholic Central Crusaders on Wednesday night. The game, played at Fleming Field amidst blustery winds and impending rain, showcased the resilience and determination of both teams.

In a nail-biting finish, the Tigers secured a 3-2 win over the Crusaders with Trenton Marling delivering the walk-off run. The victory highlighted the Tigers’ ability to come through in clutch moments and secure close games.

Catholic Central head coach Don Young acknowledged the team’s struggle with consistency, stating, “We play really good baseball at times, and then we just make too many mistakes. Little things have hurt us all year, and we keep working to get better at those things.”

On the other side, Shadyside head coach Jason Collins praised his team’s effort and solid performance throughout the game. Both teams received strong pitching performances from Luke Crozier and Kody Carver, who kept the opposing offenses in check for most of the game.

Despite a late rally by the Crusaders in the seventh inning, the Tigers held on for the win, showcasing their resilience and ability to close out tight games. The game served as a testament to the competitive spirit and skill of both teams on the diamond.

As the rain began to fall and the winds continued to whip around the field, the Tigers celebrated a hard-fought victory, while the Crusaders reflected on missed opportunities and the need to improve moving forward. The game was a true display of high school baseball at its finest, with both teams leaving it all on the field in pursuit of victory.
