Shamion recognized with AP All-State Honorable Mention honors in News, Sports, Jobs

Danica Shamion, a senior guard at West Iron County Public Schools, has added another accolade to her impressive high school athletic career. Shamion was named to the Associated Press Division 3 All-State Honorable Mention team on Tuesday.

Shamion, who recently joined the Wykons’ 1,000-point club, played a crucial role in leading the West Iron girls varsity basketball team to a District title. Despite a tough loss in the Regional Championship game, Shamion’s contributions were instrumental in the team’s success.

Coach Eric Shamion, Danica’s father, praised her hard work and dedication on the court, highlighting her leadership and versatility as a player. He expressed pride in watching his daughter compete and succeed in multiple sports, including volleyball and track and field.
