The Shanghai International Film Festival has announced its competition selection for the 26th edition, showcasing a diverse lineup of films from around the world. The main competition features 14 titles, with a strong focus on Chinese cinema.

One of the most anticipated films in the lineup is Chinese director Guan Hu’s drama “A Man and a Woman,” starring local stars Huang Bo and Ni Ni. Guan Hu, who recently impressed critics at the Cannes Film Festival with his film “Black Dog,” is expected to draw a lot of attention with his latest work.

Other standout films in the competition include Wei Shujun’s “Don’t Worry, Be Happy” and Zhang Dalei’s “Starfall.” Japanese director Mipo O’s “Living in Two Worlds” is also generating buzz for its unique storyline about a young man raised by deaf parents in rural Japan.

The festival, running from June 14 to 23, will also feature a jury led by Vietnamese-French director Tran Anh Hung, known for his Oscar-nominated film “Scent of the Green Papaya.” Joining him on the jury are industry professionals from around the world, including Australian director Rolf de Heer and Chinese actress Zhou Xun.

With a diverse selection of films from different regions and genres, the 26th Shanghai International Film Festival promises to be an exciting showcase of global cinema talent.
