Sharjah Consultative Council Committee Reviews Sharjah Health Authority’s Projects

The Health, Labour, and Social Affairs Committee of the Sharjah Consultative Council (SCC) recently received an in-depth review of the operations of the Sharjah Health Authority and its crucial role in healthcare within the Emirate of Sharjah. The committee’s visit marks the beginning of its efforts for the first regular session of the eleventh legislative term.

Led by Mohammed Saleh Al Ali, the committee’s chairman, a delegation from the Health Affairs Committee of the Council attended a meeting where they were welcomed by officials in Sharjah, including Abdulaziz bin Butti Al Muhairi, Executive Council member of Sharjah and Chairman of the Sharjah Health Authority.

During the meeting, Al Ali commended the dedicated efforts of the Sharjah Health Authority in strengthening the healthcare system in the Emirate of Sharjah. He highlighted the committee’s priority to visit the authority, understand its responsibilities, and strengthen ties to prioritize the well-being of the people in Sharjah in alignment with the emirate’s policies.

Al Muhairi emphasized the keen interest of His Highness in improving the quality of life and ensuring prosperity for citizens, particularly through efforts to enhance healthcare services. The establishment of the authority reflects this commitment, with the necessary powers and budgets allocated to achieve its goals and contribute to the development of the Emirate of Sharjah in the healthcare field.

The meeting delved into various important topics concerning the health sector, including reports on medical services, future plans for healthcare infrastructure development, and strategies to enhance the quality of healthcare for the community. Members of the committee stressed the significance of collaboration between the Council and the Authority to deliver top-notch healthcare services that meet the needs of residents.

Al Muhairi and Amal Ahmed Sultan Al Qatari Al Suwaidi, the Director of the Sharjah Health Authority, discussed the health insurance policy in the Emirate of Sharjah and the services provided by the University Hospital for the elderly. They reiterated the Authority’s commitment to attracting specialized investments in the healthcare sector and ensuring the highest international standards in a conducive investment environment, with projects like the Sharjah Healthcare City in progress.

Following their visit, the committee members toured the clinics and health centers within the Sharjah Health Authority premises, familiarizing themselves with the therapeutic services offered and acknowledging the accomplishments of the authority in recent times. They expressed unwavering support for future endeavors aimed at improving healthcare in the emirate, with the ultimate goal of creating a thriving and healthy society.

The visit concluded with the members praising the Sharjah Health Authority for its achievements and expressing their commitment to supporting ongoing efforts to enhance healthcare services in the emirate.
