Shavkat Rakhmonov taunts Joaquin Buckley following ‘delusional’ challenge

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Shavkat Rakhmonov, the undefeated welterweight contender, is not impressed with Joaquin Buckley’s callouts. Buckley, who has been on a calling-out spree, mentioned Rakhmonov as a potential opponent after previously targeting Conor McGregor and Gilbert Burns. However, Rakhmonov quickly shut down Buckley’s attempt to get his attention.

In response to Buckley’s callout, Rakhmonov took to Twitter and said, “I thought your Conor callout was delusional, but you’ve actually outdone yourself this time.” The 29-year-old fighter made it clear that he was not interested in facing Buckley, who is several steps behind him in the rankings.

Despite Buckley’s persistence, Rakhmonov remains focused on his path to a title shot. After a dominant win over Stephen Thompson, Rakhmonov is on the cusp of a championship opportunity. On the other hand, Buckley, while undefeated in the UFC welterweight division, still has a long way to go before he can challenge someone like Rakhmonov.

Buckley, known for stirring up controversy with his callouts, has also targeted other fighters like Daniel Cormier and Cub Swanson. However, it seems that his tactics have not endeared him to his peers in the MMA community.

As Buckley continues to make noise with his callouts, it remains to be seen who he will face next. Whether his aggressive approach will pay off in securing a high-profile fight or backfire remains to be seen. For now, Rakhmonov is focused on his own journey to the top of the welterweight division.
