Sheikh Hamdan emphasizes the importance of MBRSC in enhancing UAE’s technological advancements – News

Dubai Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum recently chaired a meeting of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) Board of Directors to review strategic plans for the development and launch of satellites under the UAE Satellite Programme. The Crown Prince emphasized the crucial role of MBRSC in enhancing the UAE’s technological capabilities and inspiring Emirati missions within the space sector.

During the meeting, Sheikh Hamdan was briefed on the center’s ambitious future programs and missions, including the upcoming launch of the MBZ-SAT, the most advanced satellite in the region, scheduled for October this year. Additionally, the development of HCT-SAT 1, an Earth-observation CubeSat, in collaboration with students from the Higher Colleges of Technology, was discussed as part of efforts to integrate space technology into the education sector.

The Dubai Crown Prince was also updated on the Emirates Airlock project, a crew and science airlock module for the Gateway lunar space station, and the progress of the Rashid Rover 2, the UAE’s latest mission to explore the Moon. These initiatives highlight the UAE’s commitment to space exploration and technological advancement.

In his address, Sheikh Hamdan emphasized the importance of striving for excellence in the space sector, stating that each new project launched enhances national capabilities and pushes the boundaries of achievement. He highlighted the significance of inspiring future generations to dream big and aim higher, ensuring that the UAE remains a leader in innovation and excellence in space sciences.

During the meeting, Talal Humaid Belhoul Al Falasi, Vice-President of MBRSC, and Hamad Obaid AlMansoori, Chairman of MBRSC, presented Sheikh Hamdan with a framed souvenir gifted by Nasa Administrator Senator Bill Nelson. The souvenir showcased flags of the UAE and USA that were carried to the Moon during the Artemis 1 lunar flyby mission, recognizing Sheikh Hamdan’s leadership in advancing space cooperation between the two countries.

Following the meeting, Sheikh Hamdan met UAE astronauts Mohammad AlMulla and Nora AlMatrooshi, congratulating them on their successful graduation from the Nasa Astronaut Candidate Class training program. The astronauts briefed Sheikh Hamdan on their extensive training over two years, preparing them for future space missions.

In conclusion, Hamad Obaid AlMansoori and Salem Humaid AlMarri reiterated the UAE’s commitment to spearheading efforts in space exploration and innovation. They emphasized MBRSC’s role in driving forward with a clear vision and unwavering commitment to excellence, positioning the UAE as a key contributor to the global space community.
