Sheikh Mohammed asserts UAE’s prominent role in global aid efforts for Gaza

Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, along with Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court, attended the opening session of the 33rd Arab League Summit in Manama, Bahrain. The summit, which commenced on Thursday, saw leaders and representatives from 22 member states of the Arab League coming together to discuss crucial issues affecting the region.

Upon his arrival at Al Sakhir Palace, the main venue of the summit, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid was warmly welcomed by King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain. King Hamad commended Sheikh Mohammed for his dedication to advancing Arab collaboration and finding solutions to the challenges faced by the people of the region, aiming to bring about a new era of development and prosperity.

In return, Sheikh Mohammed congratulated King Hamad on the successful organization of the summit and expressed his hopes for the continued growth and prosperity of Bahrain under the leadership of the King.

One of the key topics at the summit was the Palestinian issue, which has been a focal point of discussions given the escalating humanitarian situation in Gaza. Sheikh Mohammed reiterated the UAE’s unwavering support for the Palestinian cause, emphasizing the nation’s commitment to upholding the rights of the Palestinian people in accordance with international laws and resolutions. He also highlighted the UAE’s active role in providing relief aid to Gaza and applauded the recent milestone of the United Nations General Assembly voting in favor of granting Palestine full UN membership.

Leaders from across the Arab world gathered at the summit to deliberate on ways to enhance cooperation and integration among member states, with a focus on supporting the aspirations of the Arab people. The discussions centered on strategies to promote sustainable development, stability, progress, and prosperity throughout the region.

The summit was attended by prominent figures such as Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the Arab League, and António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations. Prince Mohammed Bin Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia, delivered a keynote address, emphasizing the Kingdom’s commitment to regional security, peace, and prosperity, as well as advocating for peaceful conflict resolution.

In his address as the Chair of the 33rd Arab League Summit, King Hamad highlighted the critical nature of the summit in the history of the Arab world. He called for an international conference for peace in the Middle East and stressed the importance of establishing a final and just peace in the region. King Hamad underscored the need for joint Arab action to address ongoing risks to Arab national security and emphasized the importance of stability and development in meeting the region’s legitimate aspirations.

The presence of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum and other leaders at the summit signifies a collective effort to address pressing issues and work towards a more prosperous and stable future for the Arab world.
