Shohei Ohtani and Will Smith lead Dodgers to 10-3 victory over struggling Mets, completing 3-game sweep – NBC Los Angeles

The Los Angeles Dodgers dominated the New York Mets in a 10-3 victory on Wednesday, completing a three-game sweep that left the Mets frustrated and reeling. Shohei Ohtani led the charge with a homer and three RBIs, while Will Smith smashed two home runs to seal the deal.

Smith’s second homer, a tiebreaking solo shot off Adam Ottavino, ignited a six-run eighth inning surge that included Ohtani’s two-run blast. The Dodgers’ offense was firing on all cylinders, with Jason Heyward adding a pinch-hit triple and a solo homer in the ninth.

The Mets, who have now lost 10 of their last 12 games, struggled to contain the Dodgers’ relentless attack. Miguel Rojas had a career-high four hits, contributing to Los Angeles’ 16-hit onslaught.

Despite a strong start from Mets starter David Peterson, the Dodgers capitalized on opportunities and built an early lead. The Mets fought back to tie the game in the fifth, but the Dodgers’ bullpen shut them down to secure the win.

Injury concerns loom for both teams, with Dodgers closer Evan Phillips nearing a return from a hamstring injury and Mets closer Edwin Díaz landing on the injured list with a shoulder issue. The Mets also saw first baseman Pete Alonso exit the game after being hit by a pitch.

The Dodgers will look to continue their winning streak against the Colorado Rockies, while the Mets aim to turn things around against the Arizona Diamondbacks in their upcoming series.
