Union College in Schenectady, N.Y. is gearing up for its annual giving challenge, ADay4U, set to take place on April 16 and 17. This event brings together students, alumni, friends, parents, and staff for 1,795 minutes of celebrating and supporting Union College.
One of the main focuses of ADay4U is raising funds for the Department of Athletics. These donations help supplement team budgets and provide the best possible experience for the nearly 600 student-athletes at Union College. This includes upgraded travel accommodations, expanded team apparel, technology equipment, and more.
Several challenges have been set up to encourage donations to specific sports teams within the Athletics Department. For example, gifts to the Women’s Athletics Fund will be matched 2:1 by Don Lehmann ’66, up to $50,000. Other challenges include matching donations for baseball, women’s basketball, football, men’s hockey, men’s lacrosse, women’s lacrosse, men’s soccer, swimming and diving, tennis, and track & field.
In addition to team-specific challenges, there are also challenges for different graduating classes and first-time donors. Trustee David Breazzano ’78 and Denise Breazzano have pledged to unlock significant amounts of money based on the number of donors who participate in the challenge.
