SiteMinder Deepens Partnership with Trip.com to Tap into Rebounding Chinese Travel Market
Ten years after establishing the global hotel industry’s first connection to Trip.com, SiteMinder, the leading software platform for unlocking the full revenue potential of hotels, has announced a deepened partnership with the online travel giant. This partnership aims to make it easier for more hotels to access the rebounding outbound Chinese travel market.
As part of the agreement, Trip.com will participate in SiteMinder’s new Channels Plus program, which simplifies distribution for hotels by providing access to multiple distribution channels through one setup. This extended partnership will allow Trip.com to expand its inventory and offer world-class travel experiences to its customers.
The move comes as SiteMinder reports a significant surge in bookings from China to its 41,000 hotel customers, with a 75% increase compared to the previous year. The average daily rate of these bookings was also 10 percentage points higher than the global average, indicating the lucrative spending habits of Chinese travelers.
According to SiteMinder’s Changing Traveller Report 2023, Chinese travelers are the most price-resilient globally, with 55% using specific websites or apps like Trip.com to research and book accommodations. Both companies are optimistic about the rebounding Chinese travel market and the opportunities it presents for hotels worldwide.
Monica Xiao, CEO of Accommodation Business Group at Trip.com Group, expressed her excitement about the partnership, highlighting the potential for hotels to capitalize on a strong revenue stream. Sankar Narayan, CEO and Managing Director at SiteMinder, emphasized the importance of innovation and growth in the current travel landscape.
With over 2,150 partners in its ecosystem, SiteMinder is well-positioned to simplify distribution for hotels and drive revenue growth. The Channels Plus program has already secured agreements with 14 distribution partners and is set to be released later this year, offering a streamlined solution for hoteliers looking to tap into the Chinese travel market.
