United High School’s track and field team had an impressive showing at the Springfield Division III district meet on Friday, with the boys sprint crew leading the way. The team secured six first-place finishes, showcasing their speed and talent on the track.

Sophomore Cayden Pitts stood out with a win in the boys 100-meter dash, clocking in at 11.33 seconds. Pitts also contributed to the team’s success by being part of the winning 400 relay team and the winning 800 relay team. Senior Wyatt Medure added to the team’s victories by winning the 800 run with a time of 2:00.40.

On the girls’ side, senior Kylie Stoffer and freshman Brinsley Hiscox were the standout performers. Stoffer claimed first place in the discus event, while Hiscox excelled in the 100 hurdles and placed third in the 300 hurdles.

The United boys finished third overall in the team standings, while Crestview’s girls team also secured a third-place finish. Crestview’s relay teams performed well, with Marissa Smith, Sophia Lewis, Tasia Jordan, and Phiatra Bradley winning the 400 relay event.

Heartland Christian had standout performances from sophomore Rebecca Geiss and junior Sawyer Szabo, who both claimed first place in their respective distance events.

Overall, the meet was a display of talent and determination from all the participating schools. The top four finishers in each event will advance to the regional meet at Norwayne High School, setting the stage for more exciting competition ahead.
