Skybound Entertainment, the media company founded by renowned writer Robert Kirkman, is making waves in the gaming world with its ambitious plan to create a crowdfunded AAA Invincible video game. Based on the popular Amazon Prime Video animated adaptation of the Invincible comicbook series, the game is set to be developed by a 30-person studio with Kirkman himself involved in the project.

The crowdfunding campaign for the game has already exceeded its initial goal of $50,000, raising over $530,000 at the time of writing. Investors are required to make a minimum $100 investment to participate in the campaign, which is set to end on April 30. The funds raised will go towards the development of a big-budget AAA video game featuring the Invincible superhero as a playable character.

The development team includes staff from top gaming companies such as Epic Games, Electronic Arts, Amazon Games, and Activision Blizzard. The game is described as a “first-of-its-kind Invincible experience” with cutting-edge competitive gameplay, premium production values, and advanced online and technical foundations.

The game will also feature an online multiplayer component with both competitive and local play modes. It will be released under a premium model with multiple DLC expansions and special editions planned. The crowdfunding page hints at a live-service model with future releases, expansions, and new character arcs in the works for years to come.

With the crowdfunding campaign ending soon, fans of the Invincible series will have to wait and see if the project moves forward to become a reality. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting new venture from Skybound Entertainment.
