Softball and tennis teams secure top spots in PBC standings

The University of North Georgia (UNG) women’s tennis and softball teams have had a successful spring season, both securing first-place finishes in the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) regular season.

The UNG women’s tennis team, ranked third in the nation, achieved a 5-1 conference record, tying for first place in the PBC. With a 20-1 overall record, the team is the No. 1 seed in the upcoming PBC tournament. The team has set a school record for regular-season victories and is aiming to surpass the full-season win mark set by the 2019 team.

On the other hand, the UNG softball team clinched the PBC regular-season title for the 10th consecutive season and the 13th time in 15 seasons. Ranked fourth nationally, the team will host a quarterfinal pod in the PBC tournament before heading to the NCAA postseason. Pitching has been a key factor in the team’s success, with impressive stats from Tybee Denton and Kristen Davis.

In addition to these achievements, three other UNG teams are nationally ranked this spring: men’s tennis, men’s golf, and women’s golf. The men’s golf team recently earned its first PBC championship in dominant fashion.
