Softball: Warriors aiming to reclaim state championship glory – Brainerd Dispatch

Brainerd’s softball team is gearing up for another successful season with key players from last year’s state runner-up team returning to the field. Senior Elsa Borchert, who hit .365 with 29 hits in 2022, will be a force in the outfield and at first base. Coach Shane Jordan is impressed with Borchert’s improvement and expects her to excel this season.

The Tautges sisters, Mya and Joze, will handle pitching duties for the Warriors. Mya, a junior, had an impressive 2022 season with a 1.454 ERA and 144 strikeouts. Coach Jordan is excited about Mya’s increased speed and new pitching techniques. Joze, also a junior, is showing promise on the mound and at the plate.

Maren Ceynowa, who will play at St. Kate’s next season, will bring her strong arm and hitting skills to the middle infield. Lacy Busch, who hit .383 last season, will anchor the third base position with her defensive prowess.

The team is rounded out by a talented roster of players, including Autumn Larson, Abby Anderson, and infield candidates Macy Goral, Hannah Phillips, and Emma Garding. With a mix of experienced seniors and promising underclassmen, the Warriors are poised for another successful season.

Coach Jordan is optimistic about the team’s prospects and credits the program’s success to the dedication of the players and the support of the community. With a packed schedule ahead, including matchups against tough opponents like St. Cloud and Moorhead, the Warriors are ready to showcase their skills on the diamond.
