A shocking case has emerged in Somerville, Mass., where a 60-year-old man, Jose Mendez, is facing charges of assaulting two women while posing as a chiropractor and running an unlicensed chiropractic business from his home. Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan revealed that Mendez has been charged with two counts of indecent assault and battery, indecent exposure, and operating without a license.

According to the preliminary investigation, Mendez allegedly operated his illegal chiropractic business out of his Cross Street residence, relying on word-of-mouth referrals within the community. The victims reported that Mendez assaulted them during separate appointments, with one victim even stating that Mendez exposed himself to her by unzipping his pants.

Mendez was arraigned in Somerville District Court, where bail was set at $5,500. He has been ordered to stay away from the victims and refrain from practicing as a chiropractor. The authorities are actively investigating the extent of Mendez’s unlicensed practice and are urging anyone with information to contact the Somerville Police.

This disturbing case serves as a reminder to always verify the credentials of healthcare providers before seeking treatment. Mendez is scheduled to appear in court again on May 14 as the investigation continues. Stay tuned for updates on this developing story.
