Sony PlayStation Expanding into Mobile Gaming with Development of Multiple Titles and Platform

Reading Time: < 1 minute

PlayStation, one of the leading names in the gaming industry, is set to make a big splash in the mobile gaming market. With the success of mobile games like Call of Duty and the growing interest from entertainment companies like Netflix, it comes as no surprise that Sony is gearing up to bring its gaming experiences to mobile phones.

Hermen Hulst, the head of PlayStation Studios and soon-to-be co-CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, recently shared the company’s plans at a business conference. Sony’s strategy for mobile gaming involves assembling a team of industry veterans from companies like Apple, Tencent, and Riot to ensure a successful entry into the mobile market.

While Sony has been expanding its reach to PC gaming in recent years, the move to mobile phones will be a more measured approach. Hulst emphasized the importance of working with leading companies in the mobile gaming segment, such as NCSoft, to achieve better results.

Excitement is building as Sony prepares to announce its first mobile games in the near future. It is expected that the company will focus on games as a service or free-to-play online games, drawing on the expertise of companies like Bungie, the creators of Destiny, which Sony acquired in 2022.

With Microsoft also making moves in the mobile gaming space with the upcoming launch of its own online mobile game store, the competition is heating up. PlayStation’s entry into the mobile gaming market is sure to shake things up and offer gamers a new way to experience their favorite titles on the go. Stay tuned for more updates on Sony’s mobile gaming plans.
