South Africa Prepares for Africa’s Travel Indaba 2024, Focused on Boosting African Tourism

Africa’s Travel Indaba, a premier tourism trade show, is set to kick off from May 13th to 16th at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre (ICC) in South Africa. This highly anticipated event is known for its global significance, attracting thousands of participants, including exhibitors from various African nations and international buyers.

The Deputy Minister of Tourism, Honourable Fish Mahlalela, emphasized the importance of Africa’s Travel Indaba, calling it the premier platform for showcasing Africa’s diverse tourism offerings and experiences. The event is not just about business transactions but also focuses on capacity building and knowledge sharing, benefiting all attendees, especially smaller and emerging businesses in the industry.

Africa’s Travel Indaba 2024 promises extensive value for delegates with tailored networking sessions, panel discussions, speed marketing sessions, and a sophisticated match-making diary system. The participation of twenty-six African countries and 120 Small, Medium, and Micro Enterprises (SMMEs) further solidifies its status as a proudly Pan African show.

The event will kick off with the Business Opportunities Networking Day (BONDay) on May 13th, offering networking opportunities and thought leadership discussions. Additionally, pre- and post-tours have been organized for selected delegates to showcase various experiences and products.

The hosts of the event, KwaZulu-Natal Tourism, expressed their excitement about hosting Africa’s Travel Indaba, highlighting its significant role in tourism growth and economic impact. The event is expected to boost the local economy, with hotel occupancy projected to be between 85 to 95 percent.

With the success of the 2023 edition, which saw a substantial increase in attendance and contributions to the GDP of eThekwini and KwaZulu-Natal, Africa’s Travel Indaba 2024 is poised to be a resounding success. The Chief Executive Officer of the Inkosi Albert Luthuli Convention Centre, Ms. Lindiwe-Rakherebe, expressed enthusiasm for hosting the event, ensuring that the venue provides the perfect setting for international buyers and media to connect with the best of Africa’s tourism products.
