South Range’s Baseball Team Advances to District Championship

In a thrilling Div. III district semifinal matchup, the South Range Raiders baseball team secured a 7-2 victory over the United Golden Eagles on Monday at Springfield Local High School. The No. 4 seeded Raiders managed to pull away from a determined United squad to advance to the district championship.

Pitcher Konnor Brogan played a crucial role in South Range’s success, allowing only two earned runs on two hits while striking out eight batters. The Raiders’ offense was led by Logan Baxter, who delivered a key double in the fifth inning to drive in two runs and break a 2-2 tie.

South Range’s Brennen Klasovsky and Ethan Viano also contributed to the win, with Klasovsky tallying two hits, three runs scored, and an RBI. Julian Tranovich added one hit, one run scored, and an RBI to help secure the victory.

United put up a strong fight early on, tying the game at two in the fourth inning, but struggled to maintain momentum against South Range’s solid defense. Despite the loss, United coach Tim Hydrick commended his team for their effort and resilience throughout the game.

With the win, South Range advances to the district championship game against No. 5 seed Garfield. The Raiders will look to secure their fourth consecutive district title in the upcoming matchup. Meanwhile, United will bid farewell to six seniors, including standout player Louden Stryffeler, but remains optimistic about the future with a promising sophomore class.

The stage is set for an exciting showdown between South Range and Garfield, as both teams vie for the district championship title. Stay tuned for more updates on this thrilling baseball season.
