Gianna Goodman, the star shortstop of the South Williamsport softball team, is making waves early in the season with her impressive performance on the field. Nicknamed the “Triple Queen” by her teammates, Goodman lived up to her title by smashing two triples in a game against Berwick, helping her team secure a dominant 15-0 victory in just three innings.

Goodman’s stellar performance was part of a collective effort by the Mounties, with eight players combining for 12 hits in the game. The team’s offensive eruption was led by Goodman, who set the tone with a lead-off triple to deep center field in the first inning. She went on to finish the game 3 for 3 with three RBIs, showcasing her speed and power at the plate.

South Williamsport’s head coach, Tom O’Malley, praised Goodman for her exceptional performance, noting her impact on the team’s success. Goodman, who earned all-state honors as a sophomore, has continued to impress this season with her hitting prowess and base-running skills.

The Mounties’ victory over Berwick marked their fourth consecutive win via the mercy rule, highlighting their dominance on the field. Despite facing challenges such as inclement weather and limited practice time, South Williamsport has shown resilience and determination in each game.

Goodman and her teammates are focused on continuing their winning streak and improving with each game. With a strong lineup and a winning mentality, the Mounties are poised for success as they look ahead to future challenges in the season.
