Spinners lead Bengaluru to victory over Hyderabad in IPL’s lowest ranked match

Reading Time: < 1 minute

In a thrilling encounter in the IPL, Royal Challengers Bengaluru pulled off a stunning 35-run victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad, thanks to the heroics of spinners Karn Sharma and Swapnil Singh.

After winning the toss, RCB posted a competitive total of 206-7, with Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis leading the charge. Kohli’s steady 51 and Plessis’ quickfire 25 set the tone for the innings, while Rajat Patidar’s explosive 50 off just 20 balls provided the much-needed momentum in the middle overs.

In response, Hyderabad’s top order faltered as they lost Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma early on. Karn and Swapnil then ran through the middle order, picking up crucial wickets to leave Hyderabad reeling at 69-5.

Despite a late flourish from skipper Pat Cummins, who scored a quickfire 31, Hyderabad fell short of the target and could only manage 171-8 in their 20 overs.

The win was only RCB’s second in nine games this season, but it was a much-needed confidence booster for the team. Captain du Plessis expressed his delight at finally getting over the line and emphasized the importance of winning matches to build confidence within the group.

On the other hand, Cummins remained positive despite the loss, stating that the team won’t dwell on this defeat too much. With this victory, RCB will be looking to build on the momentum and climb up the IPL table in the coming games.
