The Kroc Center in Coeur d’Alene is gearing up for a week-long celebration in honor of its 15th anniversary. Known as a hub for families and community members seeking fun and friendships, the Kroc Center has planned a series of exciting activities for the occasion.

On May 6, members of the Kroc Center can enjoy a free barbecue as a special treat. The main event, however, will take place on May 11 with a grand open house that is free for all members of the community to attend. The celebration will feature fun games, free food, and a variety of activities for the whole family to enjoy. Additionally, the Coeur d’Alene Symphony will be performing the Vive La France concert on Friday evening and Saturday afternoon, adding a touch of elegance to the festivities.

The Parade of Paws, hosted by the Spokane Humane Society, is another event to look forward to. Scheduled for June 1, this 1- to 2-mile walk aims to raise funds in support of the animals at the Humane Society who are awaiting their forever homes. Participants can bring their well-behaved pets on a leash to join in the fun and mingle with fellow pet lovers and adorable animals from the shelter.

For those interested in homesteading and traditional skills, the Modern Homesteading Conference is a must-attend event. Taking place on June 28-29 at the Kootenai County Fairgrounds, this two-day conference will feature presentations and lectures from experienced homesteaders, including topics such as raising chickens, preservation, sourdough, homemade soap, and more. Whether you’re an aspiring homesteader or already established in the lifestyle, this educational conference offers a wealth of knowledge on sustaining your kitchen, home, and farm.

As Independence Day approaches, Spokanites can look forward to two spectacular fireworks displays on July 4. The Riverfront Park show, held in the Lilac Bowl beneath the iconic clocktower, will feature a performance by the Spokane Symphony before the fireworks light up the sky. For sports fans and hot dog enthusiasts, Avista Stadium will host a baseball game followed by a fireworks display. Attendees may even have the chance to watch the show alongside the Indians’ mascots, adding an extra element of fun to the evening.

With a lineup of exciting events and celebrations on the horizon, the community in and around Coeur d’Alene and Spokane has plenty to look forward to in the coming months. Whether you’re a music lover, pet enthusiast, homesteading aficionado, or simply enjoy a good fireworks display, there’s something for everyone to enjoy and celebrate together.
