Sports Events in Silver Valley: April 1st – 7th

The Genesis Prep boys’ golf team emerged victorious in an invitational tournament at Mirror Lake, beating Kellogg by 36 strokes with a team score of 347. Kellogg’s Brodie Robinson shone brightly, shooting an 81 to claim the medalist honors. Despite the loss, Kellogg’s head coach Danny Kenyon remains optimistic about the team’s potential, especially with the younger members showing great promise and determination.

On the girls’ side, Bonners Ferry dominated the competition with a team score of 417, led by the Bayer sisters Braylyn and Avery who finished 1-2 in the tournament. The girls from Bonners Ferry outperformed Timberlake, Genesis Prep, and Kellogg to secure the top spot.

In other sports news, the Kellogg baseball team faced off against Bonners Ferry in a doubleheader, with Bonners Ferry taking the first game 9-0 and Kellogg bouncing back to win the second game 8-3. Sophomore Jack Woods impressed for Bonners Ferry with a stellar pitching performance in the first game, while senior Travis Eixenberger led Kellogg to victory in the second game.

Unfortunately, several prep events were postponed due to inclement weather, including Central Idaho League baseball and softball games and prep tennis matches. Despite the setbacks, former Wildcat golfer Stephen Paul was honored at the Hall of Fame banquet, being named the 3A – 1A Golf Player of the Year for his outstanding performance on the course. Additionally, the Duane Hagadone High Character Award winners were announced, recognizing student-athletes who excel both on and off the field.
