The St. Maries Lumberjacks had a successful outing at the 2A District 1-2 Meet, with both the boys and girls teams claiming the team titles. Freshman Raevyn Yearout was a standout performer for the girls team, securing victories in the 100, 200, and 400-meter races. This marked the first girls team title for St. Maries since moving to 2A from 3A in 2012.

The boys team also put on an impressive performance, with top finishes in various events contributing to their team title win. The state 2A meet is set to take place at Middleton High, with the Lumberjacks looking to carry their momentum into the upcoming competition.

In other track and field news, Mullan senior Kofi Appiah secured a spot at the state 1A track and field meet by finishing in the top five at the District 1-2 meet. The Logos of Moscow swept the team titles, showcasing their dominance in the competition.

On the golf course, Genesis Prep senior Chiara Lehman shined, earning girls medalist honors at the 2A District 1-2 tournament. Priest River’s Palmer Coleman also impressed, winning boys medalist honors with a strong performance. Kellogg’s boys team narrowly edged out Genesis Prep for the district title, while Priest River claimed the girls team title.

In baseball and softball action, Kellogg faced tough competition in the 2A District 1-2 Tournament. Despite some challenging matchups, the Wildcats showed resilience and determination in their games against Grangeville and St. Maries.

Overall, it was a weekend filled with impressive performances and exciting competition across various sports in the district. Fans can look forward to more thrilling action as teams prepare for the upcoming state meets and tournaments.
