Central Illinois is in for a taste of winter this week, with a mix of rain and snow, very windy and chilly conditions, and even the possibility of some snow accumulation. The forecast for Wednesday includes a mix of rain and snow, with very windy conditions and temperatures reaching a high of 41 and a low of 33. Thursday will bring scattered rain showers possibly mixed with snow, with highs around 45 and lows near 32.

Despite the chilly start to the week, there is some good news on the horizon. Friday will see partly to mostly cloudy skies with a slight warm-up, with highs around 50 and lows near 29. By the weekend, temperatures will start to warm up, with Saturday offering partly to mostly sunny skies and highs in the mid-50s. Sunday will continue the warming trend, with highs near 60 and increasing clouds with a chance of scattered rain showers.

Meteorologists Cheryl Lemke and Darren Leeds are keeping a close eye on the weather patterns, with Lemke noting the energetic storm system that continues to impact the region with moisture and strong winds. Leeds is optimistic about the upcoming eclipse viewing conditions, forecasting mostly sunny skies and ideal viewing conditions.
