Squatters Refuse to Leave Gordon Ramsay’s London Pub Despite Court Order

A group of squatters has taken over renowned chef Gordon Ramsay’s London pub, the York & Albany gastropub, and despite a court order to vacate the premises, they are still refusing to leave. The squatters, who locked themselves inside the for-sale pub in Camden on April 13, claim they have the right to remain there as it is not a residential building.

However, a High Court order has put the property back in Ramsay’s possession, with a legal notice left for the squatters to move out. While some of the squatters started departing on Friday, others have vowed to stay put in the $16.1 million pub. One squatter even claimed to have made a deal with the building’s owner, not Ramsay.

The squatters have been using Ramsay’s kitchen appliances to barricade themselves inside and even ran a cafe out of the pub, offering free food and drinks to the community. Despite the court ruling, they have expressed their intention to remain in the building and be a part of the community again soon.

Ramsay’s spokesperson has not yet commented on the situation. The pub had been temporarily closed as Ramsay worked on finalizing a new lease with new partners in a multimillion-dollar deal. The squatters managed to bypass security measures and CCTV to occupy the pub, but their future in the premises remains uncertain as they defy the court order to leave.
