Candidates MUST HAVE 6-8 years of experienceThe Principal Engineer – Software will work within the engineering group to design, implement and test cloud-based applications to enable enhanced levels of machine connectivity and control. The team member will play a crucial role of developing and maintaining applications which manage the consumption and egress of data within the cloud infrastructure.Job DescriptionYOUR IMPACT:
- Plan, develop and implement improvements and changes to existing timeseries and SQL databases.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot contextualized data discrepancies.
- Perform testing to validate database behavior and changes.
- Plan, develop and implement systematic test sequences.
- Plan and implement database changes to support new features identified by the product team.
- Provide direction and technical counsel to lower-level developers and software engineers.
- Research, study, and propose use of new software/technologies to be used in the development of new and improved products and features.
- Prepare technical solution design proposals and presentations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proficiency developing in SQL (e.g., SQL Server) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, ADx)
- Experience with big data tools (pySpark, hadoop, pandas, Google Big Query, AWS DynamoDB, etc.)
- Experience contextualizing “big data” datasets.
- Experience with timeseries database.
- Experience in C#, Python, Java, JavaScript, Go or similar programming language (Java Preferred)
- Experience with Azure cloud tools including Azure Data Explorer.
- Experience using cloud technologies like AWS, Docker, or Azure.
- Experience working with CICD tools and test automation.
- Experience using DEVOps tools and principles.
- Experience applying Agile design methodology and tools (e.g. Jira)
STANDOUT QUALIFICATIONS:
- Accredited Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer or Electrical Engineering
- Experience with web-based applications to store and access complex “big” data.
- Understanding of common IoT architectures and tools.
- Experience with system design considering cyber security and SecOps principles.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Experience with automotive or heavy-duty construction/industrial equipment data.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to thrive in a startup like culture, excels in ambiguous situations, and embraces technical challenges.
