Wipro Ltd, one of India’s leading IT majors, has announced the appointment of Srini Pallia as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director (MD) of the company, effective immediately. Pallia succeeds Thierry Delaporte, who has spent four years at the helm of Wipro and is stepping down to pursue passions outside of the workplace.
Pallia, who has been with Wipro for over three decades, most recently served as the CEO for Americas 1, Wipro’s largest and fastest-growing strategic market. He is described as an ideal leader to guide Wipro through its next phase of growth and profitability by Rishad Premji, chairman of Wipro.
Delaporte expressed his gratitude for the solid foundation laid during his tenure and expressed confidence in Pallia’s ability to continue steering Wipro towards greater heights. Pallia, who holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering and a master’s in management studies, will be based in New Jersey and report to Chairman Rishad Premji.
The announcement comes just days before the release of Wipro’s financial results for the January-March quarter of 2023-24. The company’s stock closed 0.47% down at ₹485.20 on the BSE on Friday. With Pallia at the helm, Wipro looks forward to building on its strong foundation and leading the company on its next growth trajectory.
