After a six-year hiatus, amateur baseball is making a comeback in St. James, Minnesota. The team, known as the A’s, is led by manager Doug Jones, who expressed his excitement about bringing baseball back to the community.
Jones mentioned that many players who aged out of the American Legion program were looking for a place to continue playing baseball. With 27 players currently on the roster, including some from neighboring towns like Mountain Lake and Madelia, the team is gearing up for a successful season.
The community has shown overwhelming support for the A’s, with a recent Bean Bag Fundraiser being a huge success. The funds raised will not only benefit the team but also youth baseball in general.
The team’s first home game is scheduled for Sunday, May 12, against Lamberton, and Jones is looking forward to seeing the community come out to support the players. He emphasized the importance of providing local kids with the opportunity to play baseball in their hometown and is proud to have made it happen.
With a strong roster, community support, and a dedicated manager, the St. James A’s are poised for a successful season in the Tomahawk East League. Fans can expect exciting games and a renewed sense of baseball spirit in St. James.
