The Small Business Center at Stanly Community College is celebrating a significant milestone – its 40th anniversary. The NC Community Colleges Small Business Center Network (SBCN) has been a vital resource for entrepreneurs and small business owners across the state, with 60 sites located within a 30-minute drive of every North Carolinian.

In honor of this milestone, SCC is gearing up for a celebration. Thomas H. Nunalee IV, director of Small Business & Entrepreneurial Development at SCC, expressed excitement about the upcoming festivities. The center will be participating in North Carolina’s Small Business Day in Raleigh on May 14, and locally, they are inviting all past and present clients to submit their business logos for a collage to be shared on social media.

Governor Roy Cooper has also proclaimed April 28 to May 4 as Small Business Week across North Carolina, emphasizing the importance of supporting the state’s one million small businesses. SCC President Dr. John Enamait highlighted the role of the Small Business Center in empowering local entrepreneurs and contributing to the county’s economy.

With approximately 1,515 small businesses in Stanly County, the Small Business Center has been a valuable resource, offering counseling, workshops, and networking opportunities. Last fiscal year alone, they counseled 68 unique clients, hosted 56 entrepreneurial education events, and provided essential resources and referrals to experts in various fields.

The dedication and impact of the Small Business Center at Stanly Community College are evident in the success stories of local entrepreneurs and the growth of the county’s economy. As they celebrate 40 years of service, the center continues to be a beacon of support for small businesses in the community.
